Determination of Palladium concentration in Pd-Ni plating bath
The analysis allows the quantification of palladium concentration in Pd-Ni plating baths and recovery waters. Monitoring the amount of palladium in plating baths is essential to set the correct parameters (e.g. deposition time, deposition thickness) in the plating process ensuring its good performance and preventing aesthetic and/or functional defects in finished products.
Method
Test type: End Point.
Time testing: 4 minutes
Analysis sessions with multiple samples are possible up to a maximum of 16 tests for CDR GalvanLab®.
Sample treatment
The sample can be used as is.
Test principle
Palladium content is determined by its reaction with a chromogen that develops a coloration, the optical intensity of which is proportional to the concentration of Pd in the analyzed sample.
Calibration curve
The calibration curve was obtained by correlating the CDR method with the reference method.
Measuring range
| Analyses | Measuring range | Resolution | Repeatability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Palladium PdNi bath [0.3-4] g/L | 0.3 - 4 g/L | 0.010 g/L | 0.03 g/L |
| Palladium PdNi recovery [0.15-1] g/L | 0.15 - 1 g/L | 0.010 g/L | 0.02 g/L |
