Determination of Copper in Gold Flash baths
In the gold flash bath, copper plays a key role in determining the performance of the final coating. Its presence is essential to balance the shades of gold – from warm yellow to pink/red shades – as well as promoting uniform distribution of the deposit and better penetration into details. Furthermore, copper helps increase the mechanical resistance of the gold layer. For these reasons, it is essential to continuously monitor and quantify its concentration in the bath, so as to guarantee aesthetic, functional and performance consistency over time.
Test principle
The copper present in the bath reacts with the chromogenic solution and generates a colored complex whose absorbance is proportional to the concentration of the analyte present in the sample.
Calibration curve
The calibration curve was obtained by correlating the CDR method with the reference method.
